Canada Bikepack Summit

SEPTEMBER 14 - 17, 2017


Enjoy daily group rides around our picturesque mountain headquarters, yoga, plenty of unique seminars, an optional overnighter through Kananaskis, great food, great people, swag from our partners...and beer! Featured guests include 'Ride the Divide' filmmaker, Mike Dion, and Tour Divide Winner, Josh Kato. 



7:00am – 4:00pm (on Friday)
Optional add-on overnighter ride along the High Rockies Trail to the Lower Lake group campground in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. We have space for 15 tents // Click here for the camp list



7:00 – 9:00pm
Brewery tour and opening Women Leading the Charge panel at the Canmore Brewing Co. Special guests include Megan Dunn, Val Kato, Joanna Croston, and more! A percentage of beer sales to be donated to WildSmart in Canmore.


Meet at Rebound Cycle for a 29 km group ride out to Three Sisters (GPX). Bring a pack with change of clothes for after. We'll finish at the Opera House. Light snacks and coffee provided by Rebound, starting at 7:00am. We leave at 7:30am sharp.

Yoga session on-site with Jeff Mah of the Yoga Lounge.

Lunch and talk by Ryan Draper on fueling (on and off the bike). Key trends like the primal diet and healthy convenience items will be discussed.

12:45 - 1:45pm
'All that goes bump in the night' - a variety of safety strategies for riding/camping near wild animals, including a bear spray demo by conservation officer, Nick Dykshoorn of WildSmart.

2:00 - 2:45pm
'Organizational insight' - How trail access is decided, regional updates (i.e the Westside Road), and future cycling considerations with Debbie Mucha, Kananaskis West Area Manager for Alberta Parks.

3:00 - 4:00pm
'Route Building 101' - contributor Miles Arbour walks us through how to plan a new route, using his COLT loop in Ontario for reference.

4:15 - 5:00pm
'What's in your pack?' - Selected guests share some insight into what they pack and how to pack it.

5:15 - 6:45pm
Dinner on your own in town. Remember your free pint coupon. Location TBA. 

7:00 - 7:45pm
2 x Attendee story share. First up is Dean Anderson, the first rider to complete the Canadian Triple Crown. Megan Dunn will then share a few stories from the overnighters that she lead this year, including the chilly Lake Minnewanka adventure in March.

8:00 - 9:30pm
Q&A and unseen ‘Ride the Divide’ footage with director, Mike Dion

'The Sequoia' - Barry Mah from Specialized demos their adventure bike and Burra Burra bikepacking bags.

'Riding Tandem' - some have called it the Divorce Machine, some the Love Machine. Hear firsthand what it's like to ride tandem from special guests, Val and Josh Kato.

Jasper native Cory Wallace is the recently crowned 24 Hour Worlds Solo champ, Canadian marathon champ, a Kona Bikes team rider, and all around humble dude. He'll be sharing stories from these epic victories, talking nutrition, and how he and the team integrate bikepacking into a winning lifestyle.

Live Skype video interview with badass, Jay Petervary. Talking this year's phenomenal Tour Divide effort, Salsa Cycles, and tips for building our Canadian bikepacking community.

Group brainstorm on how we can collectively grow the scene in 2018.
